iPhone Apps - Software for your Mobile Computer

Let’s explore  the growing universe of iPhone apps. With over 85,000 apps and still going, you could say that this galaxy has spiraled out of control.  That’s way more apps than anyone could even glance at in a lifetime!

So how to know what’s worth getting?  Friends,  articles and books help a bunch, and personal explorations, of course.  But if I were in the future…

If I had a classic nuts and bolts time machine, I’d travel into the future and look back at this time and see what apps turned out to be most useful, well-written and implemented in 2009 and 2010.  (Looking at 2011 apps would be too far in the future because the hardware would be too advanced)

I can easily image…… each app doing more….apps aggregation..a clustering effect…bluetooth everything attachments..cloud computing..

So….. what current apps scale up to these future trends?

Look no further than your computer, for starters.  The iPhone, as most nerds would agree, is not just a phone anymore..that was just the first app.  It’s a full blown mobile computer, and growing in power and capacity with every hardware upgrade.

My favorite apps so far include:
