This first interview is with Dr. Wolfgang Hoeschele, a Germany professor teaching at Truman University in Indiana.  He just wrote “The Economy of Abundance”, outlining a new way to think about economics, money and resources, and has started an online wiki, “The Commons Abundance Network,” for creating a new paradigm of sharing and distributing wealth.

We take the show on the road this week to Vienna, Austria, where we meet Franz Nahrada, hotelier and founder of the Global Villages Network, and Jeff Buderer, a long-time member of Arcosanti, a visionary community founded by Italian architect Paolo Solari, in the Arizona desert.

Creating global eco-villages is a new paradigm for thinking about where we could live in the future, with roots in the ancient tradition of European monasticism.  We explored these ideas extensively while staying in Vienna at Franz Nahrada’s Hotel Karolinahof, celebrating his family ownership of this venerable Viennese destination since 1913.  

Yes, it is quite interesting that super conservative Canadian ex-Defence Minister Paul Hellyer would speak out on UFO disclosure at this time in history..however, it doesn’t appear anything will be coming out of our government on this matter anythime soon, despite Hellyer’s plea for authorities to spill the beans…It is interesting to hear what he has to say, nonetheless, as he takes us down the rabbit hole of aliens, illuminati, elites, power and coverups, in his 20 minute talk.

And as Google Glass begins its journey onto the heads of everyone, it is starting to run into a little resistance.  Some people (and places), it appears, still get upset about being recorded without their explicit permission. Privacy issues are once again being discussed as Glass renders the Zoie chip in the scifi film Final Cut, a reality.  Yet, it is inevitable that resistance is futile.  Why?  Dr. Future expounds a bit on this on the show..

Philippe Lucas is a Research Affiliate with the Center for Addictions Research of British Columbia and a founding Board member of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studios Canada and the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition.  His research interests, projects, and publications include the use of cannabis, ibogain, and ayahuasca in the treatment of addiction.

What else can we talk about today? We explore holding multiple points of view simultaneously in looking at this sad national incident. We have many callers promulagating different perspectives, such as Rush Limbaugh’s and especially Alex Jones pov, with his false flag scenarios.

To keep it even more interesting, we have guest Bruce Erickson in the studio, who had been speaking at the United Nations in New York when the planes hit the World Trade Center buildings.  A very dynamic lively show with lots of call-ins.  Our community has a lot to say on this topic!

We were sad to hear that Sherrie Rabinowitz had passed this week after a long battle with MS, a true pioneer in the world of media.  We share a few of our adventures with her in this show.  The Big Bang has been re-created, at least in audio, which you will hear.  Wikileak’s has major data from the 1970’s now perusable via a sophisticated search engine, making it more accessible.  Banks have been under a sustained cyber attack of late, which we discuss.

In the second half of the show we talk with organizer Suzanne Taylor of what was formerly called TEDx West Hollywood, now exTEDx West Hollywood, about why her conference, a year in the making, had it’s license from TEDx pulled at the last minute.  It seems like the TED science advisors believe she is promolgating ideas not worth spreading, mostly in the realms of PSI and Spirituality.

Lots of interesting news today, the most controversial involving whether we have the right to take unapproved treatments for terminal conditions.  Lots of calls on that issue, as well as the withdrawal of TEDx support for a conference in West Hollywood involving a number of consciousness researchers.  Fringe science once again is under attack..

And for exploring the fringe world of Bigfoot, we have none other than our very own local researcher, explorer, and curator of the Bigfoot Discovery Museum, Michael Rugg, in the studio today.  A consumate story teller, Michael educates us in the mystery of Bigfoot, especially local lore and legend. He shares with us some audio files he collected of very haunting Bigfoot cries in the Santa Cruz mountains. Amazing to hear!

Internationally practicing healer Eric Pearl has  appeared on numerous television shows in the US and around the world, spoken by invitation at theUnited Nations, presented to a full house at Madison Square Garden, been interviewed in various publications including The New York Times, and most recently featured in the film, The Living Matrix.

As a doctor, Eric ran a highly successful chiropractic practice for 12 years until one day his patients began reporting that they felt his hands on them – even though he hadn’t physically touched them. Patients soon reported receiving miraculous healings from cancers, AIDS-related diseases, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, birth disfigurements, cerebral palsy and other serious afflictions. All this occurred when Eric simply held his hands near them – and to this day, it continues.

Now, what’s interesting is that Dr. Pearl is now teaching what he calls “Reconnective Healing” where small groups of people can heal each other, where those involved are both  healer and patient.  He helps foster a state of awareness, a healing field of sympathetic resonance, if you will, where there is no hierarchy, just equality.  People then just ‘know’ what to do, and seems to be tapping into the group intelligence.  He considers this the future of healing and is something we’ll be discussing to some depth, along with some other rather cosmic insights and transmissions.

Many pundits have wondered about the direction radio will take, as the internet takes over AM/FM, and audio becomes more dynamic and interactive. Most of you have heard of music on demand services, like Pandora, or internet radio, like TuneIn (KSCO is on that app).  But have you heard of HearPlanet? We begin this week’s show on The Ethan Bearman show, discussing Yahoo’s controversial banning of telecommuting in their organization..

As the revolutionary Google Glass going public this month, with 1500 pair going out to the first batch of early adopters, we may have some new rules regarding use, particularly with regard to their ability to record everything the wearer sees and hears.   We discuss this controversial issue of privacy with Mark Buchanon, a local programmer who is developing related technologies, and Greg Panos, an augmented reality expert who has just attended the TED and BIL conferences in Long Beach, CA, where the new Google Glass was very much in evidence… An ill-fated yet hilarious dating  attempt demonstating the capabilities and potential pitfalls of the technology can be seen here.

We really enjoyed hosting the show today, it had a nice flow to it. AP’s Liz Sidtodi’s suggestion of citizen congressmen and Senators entering politics for one term only, for the intention of crafting and passing solid legisation, and then leaving, is as she said, a “radically reaonable idea.”  

And Drones, should we let them free to roam American skies?  Not trivial, as basically, drones are airplanes, and as such can do most things airplanes do well - fast and easy transpo of people and goods, exploration and pleasure flying, and defensive/offensive immune system type roles in facing/creating threats.

And beyond the usual piloted airplane roles, drones, or more accurately UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), can be very very small, as diminuative as hummingbirds and dragonflys.  What should the regs be for such craft?  Not exactly in the exising purvue of the Federal Aviation Administration….:oh no, Mr. Bill!  We did not drone on about UAVs, however,  <groan>  as there were other amazing stories this week  worthy of our attention :-)

One geek topic we explored is the creation of a personal mobile cloud and a home cloud.  What’s the main thing people run back into their burning houses to save, besides loved ones?  Often old photographs and family archives…our personal cherished memories. From a nerd pov, of course, these deeply emotional moments and milestones..i.e. weddings, birthdays, graduations, award ceremonies, the things we like to reflect on later, are basically, data.  Photographs have given way to computer files.

To discuss this we brought on one of our fav geeks, Mark Buchanon, a programmer working on such issues, and looked at Seagate’s breakthrough award-winning new gadget, the Wireless Plus, a small portable wifi hard drive!

We also spoke quite extensively about crowd-sourcing projects, and that how this year, 10% of Sundance films (17 movies), were crowd-funded by sites like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.  And just this week, a Kickstarter-financed film won an Academy Award!  (‘Inocent,’ in the Short Documentary category).

We then spoke with tech visionary Dave Blackburn, who started a new IndieGogo project today, a documentary on a topic dear to his heart and that has figured prominently in his life, fast-pitched softball.  Dave had a rather special relationship with the sport, as you will hear..

Oboy, it’s our last show of the year!  We of course, are covering the “End Times” festivities, which in retrospect, helped usher in the new world that you all live in now..The funny thing about memory, is that the pains of the past of been replaced by the joys of the present, thanks in large part to the contributions of so many to our current world view .

Have you ever heard of telomere’s and their role in the aging process?  According to the Genetic Science Learning Center,

“Inside the center or nucleus of a cell, our genes are located on twisted, double-stranded molecules of DNA called chromosomes. At the ends of the chromosomes are stretches of DNA called telomeres, which protect our genetic data, make it possible for cells to divide, and hold some secrets to how we age and get cancer.

Telomeres have been compared with the plastic tips on shoelaces because they prevent chromosome ends from fraying and sticking to each other, which would scramble an organism’s genetic information to cause cancer, other diseases or death.

Yet, each time a cell divides, the telomeres get shorter. When they get too short, the cell no longer can divide and becomes inactive or “senescent” or dies. This process is associated with aging, cancer and a higher risk of death. So telomeres also have been compared with a bomb fuse.”

Is there a reliable way to increase telomere length or even reverse the aging process?  

Investigative Berkeley researcher Bobby Wilder has been exploring this world for some time and shares with us some of his research, insights, and personal experiments.  You may be quite surprised by his findings..

Quite an interesting week, with the invasion of an alien species of squid on our Aptosian beaches, the so-called Humboldt Jumbo Squid, a very large species that eats our local calamari population for lunch, much like us!  We awoke to found hundreds of these 2-4 foot long deep sea creatures from the South Pacific stranded on our beaches, apparently tossed there by large waves during the early morning’s high tide.  We even found one alive and saved it’s alien life.  

Meanwhile, our Rover Curiousity started to look for Martian life in the soil of the Red Planet, unearthing some tell-tale signs…or should I say ‘unmartianing’…and on this planet, China’s Dr. Pei has successfully created brain stem cells from urine, a remarkable achievement.. 

Oh yes, and that the human brain on stories suggests that our brains actually activate the same various centers of activity as the person who tells the story.  Not to jump to any conclusions of course, but could reality actually be a simulation, a giant Holodeck? Hmmmmm….

We have more commentary than usual for this show, as we had very provocative topics to stimulate us, like Peter Diamandis, who spoke on the topic of Abundance this week at NASA Ames.  Are we ready for a Star Trek type of society, where it’s not so much about jobs as about passion and actual skills?  And with technological change  happening exponentially these days, can we move into a solar system economy smoothly?
