Future News and Report - Solar Plant Smoking Streamers, Drone Carrier Landings, Saving Net Neutrality, Having Coregasms, and Bruce Erickson on Electro Magnetic Healing

Listen Now to Dr. Future Show 8.19.14

Did you know that a single fiber-optic strand the diameter of a human hair can carry 101.7 terabits of data per second, enough to support nearly every Netflix subscriber watching content in HD at the same time?  That’s the kind of future we are moving towards, and with the threat of losing net neutrality, we could be severely limited in our bandwidth capacities, thanks to the big carriers wanting to install ‘toll roads’ on our bandwidth usage.   CEO of Netflix Reed Hastings addresses this issue in our links section and we discuss it on the air.

Bruce Erickson, a regular contributor to the show, gives us a report on Electronmagnetic Healing this week, as he explores a Schumann Resonater, a device that puts out frequencies that keep us aligned with the planet itself. We won’t say you can listen and be healed but we can say you’ll probably enjoy the show!

Future News - Robin Williams Stories and Jokes,Ethan Bearman report on Israel/Palestinian situation, Your Brain on Fish, 9 Volt Nirvana, Brain Regeneration, Radical New AI, Water Tractor Beam, Amazon Publisher Dispute

Listen to Dr. Future Show 8.12.14 with report by Ethan Bearman

We too mourn the loss of Robin Williams and share some of reminiscences of the man and what his life meant to us.  He was quite the techie, and often did jokes like, ‘Is it rude to Twitter during sex? To go “omg, omg, wtf, zzz”? Is that rude?’

We are also joined by journalist and talk show host Ethan Bearman for his take on the Middle East, after visiting Israel earlier this month.  He shares with us some of his insights and adventures from the journey and answers the question, “Why go to a war zone?”

We also raise the issue of ebooks as a disrupter to the book publishing field as evidenced by the current Amazon.com vs Hachette Publishing dispute, which we discuss in some depth. Enjoy!

Future News and Nick Herbert on Thinking about Climate Change

Listen to Dr. Future Show 8.05.14 with Nick Herbert

For our 200th show we have friend and physicist Nick Herbert help us understand in the complex topic of climate change.  He has been fascinated with the topic since reading a book by John Muir discussing Alaskan Glacial melting in the 1800’s, before our current carbon dioxide increase driven by the Industrial Revolution.  With a history of interpreting Science for the layman, he does a good, if not controversial job for us! Plus, there is his poetry..

But first Nick joins us in a rousing discussin of Future News, including the Rosetta Probe, a fuel less space drive, potato bag spying, testosterone civilization, crystalline recorders and metallic alloy 3D printing.

She has come to our KSCO studios to chat about all things toy.  We had a lot of fun!
