Entheogenic plant biologist Dennis McKenna and his adventures with his brother, psychedelic bard Terence McKenna

Listen Now Dr.Future Show Tuesday 6.18.13 Dennis McKenna

Dennis Mckenna visits us in the studio this week to share with us his research and insights into psychedelic plants, and a few tales from his amazing times with brother Terence McKenna,  psychonaut, lecturer, and writer. Terence was noted for his knowledge, and the ability to articulate his knowledge, of the use of psychedelicsmetaphysics, plant-based entheogens, and subjects ranging from shamanism, language, historical and civilizational timelines, the theoretical origins of human consciousness, and his concept of novelty theory.

Of the two brothers, Dennis is the scientist, having received his Master’s degree in botany at the University of Hawaii in 1979. He received his Doctorate in Botanical Sciences in 1984 from the University of British Columbia, where he wrote a dissertation entitled Monoamine oxidase inhibitors in Amazonian hallucinogenic plants: ethnobotanical, phytochemical, and pharmacological investigations.

His research has included the pharmacologybotany, and chemistry of ayahuasca and oo-koo-hé, the subjects of his master’s thesis. He has also conducted extensive fieldwork in the PeruvianColombian, and Brazilian Amazon.

He has recently finished a memoir entitled “The Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss,” about his and his brother Terence’s journeys together.

Listen Now to a reading from his memoir of a major Auyahusca vision that he had experienced.

Listen  to Dennis McKenna’s talk and readings from the Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss at the Capitola Book Cafe on 6.18.13

With all the news about PRISM and other secret government activities recently revealed, we must give you our take on the situation, including some interesting info you may not have been tracking, such as the Amulet camera…

And as Apple’s World Wide Developer’s Conference is currently underway in San Francisco, we thought we’d bring you an update on what’s happening in that world, with the help of our very own star of MacHeads the Movie, Taylor Barcroft.  Can’t wait to get my hands on the new Mac Pro tube, a 12 core screaming machine that raises the standard of what a desktop computer means.

Exploring the Mystery of Life and Communications after Death

We are back from Europe with many tales to share.  On the way back in the plane I was reading a very personal and touching book by a woman who was in communications with her dead brother, called The Afterlife of Billy Fingers.  It wasn’t long after I landed that I got a call from my brother in NY, informing me that my father had just passed..
So, following my cues, we’ll be interviewing Dr. Annie Kagan today, about her experiences of evidence of life after death and communications with the ‘other side.’

Dr. Future Show "Future Week" Interviews in Vienna, Austria

We are still in Europe this week, currently in a beautiful but bandwidth challenged town in  Italy (Positano). There is not enough bandwidth to do our live show this week, but we are uploading some interviews we did at FutureWeek Vienna a few days ago.

This first interview is with Dr. Wolfgang Hoeschele, a Germany professor teaching at Truman University in Indiana.  He just wrote “The Economy of Abundance”, outlining a new way to think about economics, money and resources, and has started an online wiki, “The Commons Abundance Network,” for creating a new paradigm of sharing and distributing wealth.

Tired of today’s pyramid of weath and interested in new ways of sharing the abundance of what we truly have?  Check out our interview with Wolfgang Hoeschele here.
