Humor and Magick with Lon Milo Duquette, hermeticist and Deputy Grand Master of Ordo Templi Orientis

Listen Now Dr. Future Show 7.12.11

When you think of Magick (with a ‘k’), what images come up for you?  Voluptuous scantily clad women on stone altars, summoned demons, and arcane incantations whispered by hooded initiates celebrating a dark mass with symbols scribed in blood?

In this show, we take you beyond Hollywood and comic book graphic novel interpretations of ceremonial magick to the realms of enlightenment, and what can truly be learned and gained from the craft in this day and age.

Lon Milo Duquette was brought up in Nebraska and hippie California during the 1960’s and 70’s, and with a healthy dose of counter cultural exposure, practices various forms of ceremonial magick to this day.  DuQuette has written several successful books on Western mystical traditions including; FreemasonryTarotQabalahceremonial magic, the Enochian magic of Dr. John Dee,  Aleister Crowley, and spirit evocation, Goetia.

Not content to be a scholar, he has engaged in actual practices of Magick and will give us the real deal on what’s valuable about magick in this age of science, or at least, what is working for him.  He is a good speaker, engaging,  quite funny, and not a bad folk singer!

Rosetta Project, Google+ Debuts, Twitter Town Hall, Consciousness Fysiks, Nick Herbert, Quantum Teleportation

Listen Now Dr. Future Show 7.05.11

In the first hour we introduce two guest hosts for the week, Michael Shane Sigmon, musician and entreprenuer, and 12-year-old geek Ciaran Farley, who provide fresh perspective  to the show and the news of the day.  The Rosetta Project has really captured much of our interest in this segment, about backing up the seven thousand currently spoken languages of our species.

In the second hour we bring on Dr. Nick Herbert, a quantum physicist featured prominently in a new book just published, “How The Hippies Saved Physics.”  Nick takes us on a little science journey from the labs of UC Berkeley to the hot tubs of Big Sur’s Esalen Institute, as we explore the very beginnings of modern day consciousness research. Young Ciaran is very curious about ‘quantum teleportation,’ and Nick shares his thoughts on the topic.. Beam on over!

Heart Bliss, live from the Mothership

Listen Now Dr. Future Show 6.28.11

In this episode we broadcast live from the Mothership, an amazing estate high atop a mountain peak near NorCal’s town of Healdsburg.  With several guests, including Jesus, we spend the first hour delving into the Dr. Future News, VW’s new self-driving tech, power grid disruptions, saliva-based aging, wearable electronics, and Apple’s latest new control tech.  We also have a special report from teen LA filmmaker Shannon Leonard on Final Cut Pro X.

The second hour is all about the Festival culture, and creating a new alternative lifestyle more suitable to our humanity than the current default reality.  We meet the co-creators of Heart Bliss and Giselle Bisson, a journalist who has studied festival culture, and where it might take us.  Interviews are peppered with a liberal dose of Heart Bliss music, the latest way cool NorCal festival in which we have participated.

This show is in stereo, so sit back and enjoy the music!

Hippies Saving Physics, Swarmbots,SmelloVision, Feedback Loops and Co-creating more profoundly.Frankie Slater on Circles United

Listen Now Dr. Future Show 6.21.11

In our news hour the just published book “How the Hippies Saved Physics” is discussed, as are the new swarmbots, odiferous media, feedback loop controls, Google’s new voice and image search functions, and just what media will survive any apocolypse?

Our guest in the second hour is Frankie Lee Slater, a communicator and networker, on a global “circles uniting” tour, bringing together disparate circles of humanity who might not otherwise know each other. She makes the case that there is still a place for really meeting people in the flesh, as opposed to simply online relationships. It is part of her mission to improve the quality of relationships between circles of influence, and she gives us some insight into how this is done and how we may create more effectively.
