Future News - TEDx SC review, Virgin Galactic Stock Leap, Sharing DNA, Dr. Bruce Damer on Climate Mitigation

Listen Now to Future News 12.10.2019

What a great experience we had at TEDx Santa Cruz this last weekend, touching tentacles with some amazing minds in our community, folks we hope to introduce to you over the coming year on Dr. Future. And in its quest to take humans for a space ride, Virgin Galactic is now on the New York Stock Exchange and have patents that will allow them to build hypersonic aircraft, planes that can carry passengers to any place on Earth at speeds faster than sound.

After projects exploring the capture of asteroids and investigating the origins of biological life, Dr. Bruce Damer returns to the show and speaks of his current initiative in creating a new think tank consortium uniting governments with business and academia, focused on mega-engineering projects for mitigating climate change. Enjoy!

Lunar Radio Telescope Activated, Ocean Reefs Renewed with Sound, Plastic from Bananas, and KSCO Radio Engineers Richard B. Luther II, and Bill Graff on 5G Radio Frequency and Health

Listen Now to the Dr.Mrs.Future Show with radio engineers Richard B. Luther II and Bill Graff on 5G

After our scintillating future news segment we introduce you to KSCO’s radio engineer and ex-NASA scientist, Richard B. Luther II, who starts with a brief history of mobile radio communications, taking us from the early days of 100 lbs of electronics in the trunk to tomorrow’s 5G cellular networks.

Richard also tells us of a large number of studies done on the potential hazards of RF. To understand the potential interaction of radio frequencies with biology he makes the point that you need to track the frequency, power level, and duration of exposure.

L-R Radio Engineers Richard B. Luther and Bill Graff discussing 5GKSCO’s other station engineer, Bill Graff, then joins the discussion to share his work and insights into RF, having worked with powerful radio transmitters for over 40 years on a daily basis. As you might imagine, we field quite a few calls, with many listeners very concerned about the potential negative health effects of the new 5G cellular networks.

Richard makes the very good point that the specific frequencies for U.S. 5G carriers have not as yet been settled, with AT&T proposing 39 Ghz, Verizon 28 Ghz, and T-Mobile rolling out with the well-known (and considered biologically safe) 600 Mhz band.

It’s still early in the game, but the debate for the future of mobile communication is on! And let us not forget that there are other options arising, should 5G prove to be too hazardous for our health. Take Project Starlink, for example… Enjoy!

Wow, what a fun show this week! Besides some great stories, we have many amazing guests, including one of our favorite visiting co-hosts, Gabriel Cianfrani, visiting and escaping from the current freeze on the East Coast.

After the news, we speak with  Alan Schaefer, CEO/Founder of Banding People Together, who teaches groups and companies ways of improving collaboration from his experiences in leading a musical band.

And in the second hour we have Mary Flodin, author of a new CliFi eco-thriller that takes place in our area, “Fruit of the Devil.” In case you are wondering, the fruit in question are strawberries, and as you listen to Mary, you’ll soon know why..

We also have a moment with Cosmic Joe, who shares with us info on the cosmic alignments currently happening in the sky (Venus, Jupiter, Saturn).

And there is our catnip research report with Gabriel, who is a cat whisperer.  Do cats really get high from catnip? We explore the evidence, as we do with some new research suggesting that the act of thinking can burn a lot of calories! Enjoy..
