Interview - Gabrielle Cianfrani on the Future of Politics

Listen Now to Gabrielle Cianfrani

The future of politics? Does politics even have a future? From a deeply political Pennsylvania family, Gabrielle has a unique view of politics from the inside view of a Senator’s daughter, and as someone who  at first genuinely believed that our political system served the people. But after many years of serving as a legislative assistant to the head state democratic finance manager, she now believes campaign finance rerform should be front and center in any political future worth living. Special interest lobbies without massive financing evens the playing field. And the power of govenment returns to the interests of the constituency.

And the Internet? Consider that computer networks can easily be perfect socialists when it comes to distributing the wealth. And beyond that, enjoy the show!

Future News - Startup Tackles Fusion Power, Regenerating Limbs, Nanobots Clean Toxins from Blood, Running a Robot with your Mind, Biological Metaphors for Politics

Listen Now to Future News 6.26.2018

Wow, fusion power could be on the horizon!  After being only 30 years away for 8 decades or so, a new startup is trying a new approach, first discussed in the 1930’s, that might now be feasible, given today’s wonder materials. Hey, the ‘horizon’ could only be 5 years away for the next 10. (that’s a joke.)   And while we are waiting, we can have nanobots clean toxins from our blood and regenerate extra limbs, in case we lose one! Enjoy.

Future News - Tiny Houses Report, CERN Updates, Supermassive Black Hole Jet, Breathing on Mars, Mysterious Gravity Wave on Venus, John Draper aka 'Captain Crunch' shares tales from his new book, "Beyond the Little Blue Box."

Listen Now to Future News 6.19.2018

Boy, it sure looks like fun to live and travel in a tiny house, more spacious than most RV’s, and certainly more cool.  We visited a tiny house show in San Jose this last weekend and share a bit of our experiences.  This week is also when KSCO’s morning host, Rosemary Chalmers, visited CERN and we have an update on the CERN upgrades and a couple minutes of Rosie’s report from the high tech facility in Switzerland. We also explore a new way to create a breathable Martian atmosphere and ponder a huge mysterious gravity wave on Venus.

Also this week is our interview with John Draper, aka ‘Captain Crunch,’ grandfather of the hackers, who regales us with a few tales from his biography, “Beyond the Blue Box,” written with Craig Wilson. We touched on some especially interesting tales from the time when the iron curtain collapsed and John was on the front lines of the shift, visiting East Berlin when, for a period of several weeks, there was no government at all.. Enjoy!
