Certainly for us the most exciting thing this week was attending the Augmented World Expo 2018 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, in the heart of Silicon Valley.  To help us cover this amazing conference, we have in the studio Greg Panos and Richard Cray, no strangers to the augmented and virtual worlds as you have heard from their previous reports. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the virtualization of Walt Disney’s personal office and the VR exhibit, “Where Thoughts Go.” Enjoy!

Lots of news to share this week, including an initial report on our first experiences with riding ebikes.  (really fun!)  We enjoyed hearing Jeff Bezo’s plans for the moon and the rather esoteric Pentagon report on warp drives, extra dimensional space, and dark matter.  Though closer to home in many ways, Jaron Lanier’s latest talk on what’s wrong with the internet just didn’t strike us a accurate for our experience..another point of discussion. A new instant charging Lithium-ion battery is being realized at Cornell (very exciting), using DNA sampled from Loch Ness might finally find the monster, and a video of a UFO buzzing the moon, taken from Santa Cruz are also fascinating.  Enjoy!

Special Report - Update from Iron Eyes on Standing Rock's Landmark Case

During our last show we spoke with Chase Iron Eyes, of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. He is an American Indian activist, attorney, politician, anda co-founder of the Native American news website Last Real Indians.

  In the summer of 2016, Iron Eyes and other representatives of the Lakota People’s Law Project joined with other water protectors at Standing Rock to resist the Dakota Access pipeline. At one point he was arrested Chase Iron Eyesand charged with attempting to start a riot, a felony charge. In a key hearing last month, Judge Lee Christofferson admonished the North Dakota state’s prosecutor for witholding evidence. The judge also granted Chase Iron Eyes’ legal team authority to subpoena Tiger Swan, a private military security firm hired by Energy Transfer Partners, the Big Oil interests of this case. If all goes well, much will be revealed at Chase Iron Eye’s upcoming trial later this year.
