Certainly for us the most exciting thing this week was attending the Augmented World Expo 2018 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, in the heart of Silicon Valley.  To help us cover this amazing conference, we have in the studio Greg Panos and Richard Cray, no strangers to the augmented and virtual worlds as you have heard from their previous reports. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the virtualization of Walt Disney’s personal office and the VR exhibit, “Where Thoughts Go.” Enjoy!

Wow, Earth-like planets found!  We kind of suspected they are out there, but to actually find one, that’s amazing! And only 40 light years away in the constellation of Aquarious.  I guess this is the dawning…:-)

Meanwhile back on Earth, we have discovered that there are over a trillion, count’em, a trillion types of species of biological life here. Admittedly  most of them are microscopic organisms, but hey, that’s a lot of types, way beyond previous estimates of 20 million or so species.

We also have an alleged new father of Bitcoin, the mysterious crypto-currency that seems to have rooted itself into our economic system. For the uninitiated, Bitcoin’s origin has always been surrounded in mystery, and now we have some more info on what may have happened to create this decentralized digital currency.

And this week marks the first anniversay of the Apple Watch! A proud owner, Dr. Future shares his thoughts on this wrist computer.. Enjoy!

By now most of us have heard of the Apple Watch, but not from the perspective of our very own MacHeads the Movie star, Taylor Barcroft.  Very excited about the new wrist computer from Apple, Taylor gives us a more detailed look at the device, as well as the other announcements made during Apple’s presentation event this week.

We also catch up with Drs. Eliot Handelman and Andie Sigler and their work on creating a musical AI. With AI in the news of late as potentially dangerous, We ask them to step back a bit contexualize AI in relation to popular culture stories, like the HAL 9000 from 2001, HER, and most recently the South African flick, Chappie, about a police robot that becomes self-aware and trained by criminals.  Eliot and Andie communicate an openness about it all that is very inspired. We also take some great phone calls from the KSCO audience and end up feeling optimistic about the future of our robot overlords.
